Ghost Hunting & TV and Movies

Movies and television have helped and hurt the paranormal field. Even though movies like Amityville Horror and The Exorcist are taken from true cases, Hollywood Sensationalism has blown the truths way out of proportion and has made the field look bad. Grant it, if the movies and tv shows were filmed like a typical investigation goes, viewers would be totally bored with it. Truth is, investigations can be very inactive but it is all in the name of research.

If movies like The Legend of Hell House, The Changeling, and Poltergeist were like a few of our recent investigations no one would watch them.
Recently, The Conjuring was in theatres and was taken from a true case from the 1970’s handled by Ed and Lorraine Warren and was done quite well and respectful to the field.
Television shows like John Zaffis’ Haunted Collector, The Dead Files, and Psychic Kid’s with Chip Coffey are some of my favorite and more reputable shows and I respect their work greatly. I have even had the opportunity to work with Zaffis and Coffey and have learned a lot from them and am thankful for the opportunities.
I have appeared on more than one paranormal television shows and am greatly pleased with how they were done and not dramatized to make things more exciting or “Hollywood”.
I am not going to land blast the television shows that I do not agree with but I do not believe in staging or rigging evidence, over dramatizing things, or plan making things up. I do try to watch as many of the paranormal shows as possibly to keep up to date with what is going on, but there are certain shows I like more than others.
Over dramatizing and making things up, or blowing them out of proportion make the entire field look bad and fake. It also gives us all a bad name. We aren’t all seeking fame or fortune. Most of us are seeking evidence, truth, and answers about our fascinating field.
When watching movies and television shows on the paranormal, take them with a grain of salt and if it looks too far out there to believe, than it probably is.
