Visiting Lizzie Borden

7/26/2016

In 2008 a dream finally came true. I finally was able to make it to Fall River Massachusetts to Lizzie Borden’s house, both, the one her father and step mother were murdered in and the home she bought later and died in. Plus, I was also led to her grave.
If you want to hear more about my experiences while there, including the paranormal incidents that occurred, read my next book, Historic Haunts of the North which is due out this summer.

Why Did I Start Historic Haunts Investigations?

7/23/2016

I started Historic Haunts Investigations in January 2004 because I had always wanted my own team. I used to be part of another group many years ago but there were many changes taking place that I didn’t agree with, as did many others, and the team actually disbanded because of it.
I figured if I started my own group, I could stay focused on what mattered to me; accuracy, honesty, legit and scientific research, and helping the client FREE of charge, plus learning new things myself.
I have now been involved in the paranormal for over 20 years and love every minute of it.

Five Deceased I Would Love to Meet

7/16/2016

I have been asked this question a number of times. Who would I like to meet that has already passed on. This is actually a very easy question for me to answer.
  1. Vincent Price- I have looked up to this man since I was tiny. I never had much of a father figure to look up to and after seeing Price in House on Haunted Hill I was hooked on the man. I have called him Uncle Vinny since I first saw him and he is one person I really wish I could have met before he passed away in 1993.
  2. Thomas Jefferson- TJ is my 1st cousin 10 times removed and it would be an honor to meet an ancestor who was one of our greatest residents of all time. Many in the history field have told me that I resemble my cousin in many ways from appearance to even some of the same actions.
  3. Walt Disney- I admire his work and his passion for it. Always keeping his dreams alive, which I try to do myself, and many of his words have made me carrier on and achieve many of my goals. He has given so many words of encouragement and I want to pass this along to our daughter so she never gives up on her dreams and always reaches for the stars.
  4. Abraham Lincoln- My 2nd favorite president who did so much good for our country during one of its worst periods.
  5. Edgar Allan Poe- He is one of the reasons I write and never give up on writing.

Team Member, Deric Pearce's First Paranormal Experience

7/11/2016

When my husband and I started getting serious about each other I told him that my deceased cat Cosmo still was with me. He didn’t disbelieve me but didn’t really think anything of it.

He didn’t not believe in the paranormal but he didn’t 100% believe in it either.
It wasn’t long after we moved in together that Deric had his very first paranormal experience.

Deric had fallen asleep on the couch watching football and I went to bed early because it wasn’t a New Orleans Saints game. Griffin our living cat followed along with me. Deric woke up sometime after the game was over and felt something jump onto the couch by his legs. Thinking it was Griffin he reached across to pet her and there was nothing there. He then heard something jump off the couch to the hard wood floor and scamper down the hall.

He jumped off of the couch and went down the hallway following the sound and found nothing! He came the rest of the way into the bedroom and saw Griffin sound asleep next to me in bed. He woke me up and exclaimed, “Your dead cat just came to visit me!” Nothing new to me, I brushed it off and responded with, “That’s nice, come to bed.” I rolled back over and she started shaking my arm trying to get me up and tell me what happened and I was like, “That’s great, congratulations. Now come to bed.”

That was my husband’s first paranormal experience and he has had several since.

Dressing in Period Clothes = Conjuring the Spirits?

7/4/2016

As a former reenactor, I would have to agree upon this. I can’t tell you how many times I was in period costume at an event and had a person experience with something or someone from the period I was dressed in.
I think this could be because you seem familiar to the spirit. If you are dealing with a spirit from the 1700’s, they might not understand someone in surf shorts and a tank top.
Several of my experiences were at locations I had been to dozens of times in normal clothes (blue jeans and a t-shirt) and never experienced anything, but when I arrived in a period outfit, someone decided to make themselves known.
I have many friends who still do reenactments and many of them have experienced the same exact thing, so this seems very common.

Mysterious Blue Holes

7/4/2016

A blue hole is a large marine cavern or sinkhole which is open to the surface and has developed in a bank or island composed of a carbonate bedrock.
These mysterious blue holes have many interesting stories around them from; housing the Kraken, having mystical powers, being haunted, the home of a creature called the Lusca (a giant animal up to 75 feet in length and resembles a cross between an octopus and a shark), and more. Lusca supposedly attack swimmers and divers, and sometimes even boats.
One of the most extremely famous blue holes is The Great Blue Hole near Ambergris Caye in Belize which is approximately 663 feet deep. Someday, I hope I will get to dive and explore the area and see what I encounter.
