Haunted White Lion Pub, St. Augustine Florida

2/24/2016

The White Lion was originally a private home in the 1800s and allegedly the owner was murdered by a rum runner. Later in years the building was used as a brothel where one of the “ladies” had a child who fell to his death while she entertained a “customer”.
Another point in this building’s life it was a bootlegger’s bar. There was a secret passage used when the Feds were on the way and the bootleggers could sneak away unseen. One day, one of the men didn’t escape the Feds and was shot while on the second floor and fell through the opening to the ground floor.
Reports of seeing a man looking over the second floor rail have been seen and also reports of people being pushed on the stairs. A small child has also been seen playing on the roof.

Haunted Anne Lytle School #4, Jacksonville FL

Built in 1917 as Riverside Elementary it was used as a school until the 1960s and was used as an administrative building before it was abandoned in 1970.
Since then it has housed druggies to hippies to homeless and has seen a lot of death. Many bodies have been hauled from here dead from drug overdose, natural causes, and other mysterious reasons.  Gang activity and devil worship practices have allegedly taken place here as well and that has given it an ominous presence.
There have been reports of strange sounds and apparitions and shadows being seen in the old school house. Truth, or just over active imaginations at a very creepy building?

Interview with Actress Robin Shelby, AKA Slimer Ghostbusters 2

1. What was it like being part of Ghostbusters and being Slimer? I have always felt so honored to be part of the franchise as well as the team of creative people at ILM that brought Slimer to life. It was very long hours being very hot and the costume was extremely heavy...but had an absolute blast every second on the set smile emoticon
2. What are your thoughts on the paranormal? I am a true believer that paranormal events happen. I think good and bad "entities" or spirits can be around for whatever reason and make their presence known. Science may not be able to explain it, but that certainly doesn't mean these events don't happen.
3. Have you ever had a paranormal experience and if so, what was it? I had surgery about 8 years ago and during surgery I had seen my Brother who had passed away in the corner of the operating room looking at me with a warm smile. I can't say for sure if it's something I wanted to see or if he really was there in the room with me, but I choose to believe it was my Brother letting me know all was okay.
4. If the Ghostbusters were "real" and they really went it and busted ghosts, would you be part of it or too scared to actually encounter them? (Or be slimer?) ;o) Well, being Slimer would be the safer bet, right? I would be fascinated to go out and experience it firsthand. But, if it happened to be a spirit that wasn't exactly around to do good...I probably would be a huge baby and run.

Haunted Stogies Jazz Club, St. Augustine Florida

In the 1880s the original building that once stood burned in one of St. Augustine’s historic fires. But that night, on the 2nd floor was a heated poker match which none of the four men would leave. By the time they realized there was a fire it was too late and they all perished.
It is said that those four men are who haunted the current building which is now Stogies. Apparently, there is a ghostly poker game still taking place on the 2nd floor and there have been reports of hearing cards shuffling, men talking, male apparitions or shadow figures seen, and the smell of a fire burning.
That must be one hot and heavy poker game!

PictureHistoric Haunts Founder Jamie Pearce and Author David Sloan 2015
1. How long have you been involved in the paranormal and what got you interested in in? My kindergarten teacher turned me on to ghosts. She had a Native American spirit that knocked around behind the walls and tossed her cat down the stairs. On the last day of class she showed us a photograph of the ghost. From that moment I was hooked. I started my first ghost tour in 1996, so professionally; I’m looking at 20 years.

2. What is the most exciting paranormal encounter that you have had? I participated in a misa espiritual. It’s a Santeria ceremony that is similar to a séance in some aspects but in reality is much, much more. The misa lasted about 4 hours and the spirit communication was as clear visually and audibly as if I were conversing in a room of living friends. I communed with the spirits for several hours and it brought my understanding of what is out there to levels I’ve never imagined. There are good things and bad things about this. You can’t unlearn things or pretend they don’t exist after experiencing them like this.

3. What is the worst experience? I’ve been attacked by dark entities on a few occasions. Being yanked from my bed was probably the worst, but there are a dozen more experiences that basically left me terrified.

4. How many books have you written on the topic and where is the best place for readers to purchase them? I have 4 books that tie into the paranormal. Ghosts of Key West and Haunted Key West are collections of stories from Key West’s most infamous haunted locations. The book I’m most proud of is all about Robert the Doll. I researched him for 16 years before writing the book and I uncovered a slew of information that was hidden for more than 100 years. I also published The Lost Diary of Count Von Cosel. He’s the guy who dug up the dead girl and married her. Amazon has all of my titles, but people can get autographed copies if they order from www.phantompress.com

We also have a Ghost Tour and Ghost Hunt in Key West. www.hauntedkeywest.com
Happy Hauntings!

Barley Republic Irish Pub, St. Augustine FL, is Haunted too!

2/12/2016

The building that houses Barley Republic was built in 1865 and was once a Civil War widow’s home, a stop for rum runners, and a brothel at one point.
One ghost that is said to haunt here is of a little black girl nicknamed sweetheart. She is described as having long braids and wearing a dress. It is believed her family is the ones that lived her during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. She has made her presence known to many by appearing and looking rather sad and telling them her braids are too tight, and she vanishes!
There is another spirit here who likes to mess with the televisions by turning them on and off or the volume way up, but once you tell it to stop, it does.

Haunted Downtown Sports Grille, St. Augustine FL

2/12/2016

In the 1980s the bar now known as the Downtown Sports Grille was part of the Twin Plaza Theatre. After that is was McKnight’s Irish Pub and the former owner, Roy is still here.
Roy interacts with many patrons and even responds to questions asked. Sometimes patrons have ghost meters to try and talk to Roy and he responds to questions by lighting up the meter. One night while I was there someone asked Roy if he wanted a “Drunken Pony” and the K2 meter went crazy.
There are many reports of cold spots in the back hallway as well as seeing an apparition of a woman in red across the street in the park that died at the old theatre.

Interview with Debe Branning by Author/Historic Haunts Founder Jamie Pearce.

1. How long have you been involved in the paranormal and what got you interested in in? Like ALL of us---I have been interested in ghosts and hauntings since I was a little girl...I think the movie "Ghostbusters made me think how cool it would be to chase ghosts with a bunch of friends---and then it just grew into wanting to match history with the mystery.

2. What is the most exciting paranormal encounter that you have had? The most recent exciting encounter was when 4 of us girls were staying at the Joshua Tree Inn in CA and we invited the spirit of rock star Gram Parsons (who ODd' in Room 8 to come into our room--ROOM 7) We were sitting on our beds naming off all the rock stars who had stayed there when we suddenly heard a male voice as tho standing between the 2 beds. It was 3 words and we could not make it out at first...then we figure it out---Parsons had started performing with Emmy Lou Harris before he died---he said "Emmy Lou" I have since listened to him speak on youtube etc---and that WAS the voice we heard for sure!

3. What is the worst experience? Maybe not the worst---but most disturbing was when a young ghost lad from Bisbee hitchhiked home through me and it took me 3 days to convince him to leave my body and go back home...He finally did---but he certainly did suck up all my energy....I use better protection now!

4. How many books have you written on the topic and where is the best place for readers to purchase them? I have 3 books of ghosts out there: "Sleeping With Ghosts" "Grand Canyon Ghost Stories" "Graveyard Shift" and coming sometime this year "Dining With the Dead"......you can purchase on line at all the favorite book venues or simply contact me for an autographed copy.

She appeared in an episode on Fearnet.com and one on Travel Channel's "Ghost Stories" (not to be confused with 'My Ghost Stories' ) and she still does behind the scenes research for Travel Channel now an then. Her upcoming project is a "Paranormal PJ Party 2" at a haunted B n B in Bisbee AZ---where everyone can kick back in their jammies and investigate all nite long---just like those PJ parties we had in our teens.

Jamie Pearce, founder of Historic Haunts Investigations, is all about paranormal unity. Pearce has started a Go Fund Me project to raise money in hopes of hosting a convention in the nation's oldest and possibly most haunted city.
Pearce wants the event to feature some of the top names in the field and bring everyone in the para community together to share research, data, and experiences so everyone can learn from each other.
After all the talent and bills are paid from the convention, all profits will be donated to local charities.
Every donation helps, and the more money raised, the better talent, and higher donation will be made.
Please help support what will be an awesome event.
