Many people, myself included, believe that electrical storms can affect activity during a paranormal investigations. It seems to give the spirits more energy to work off of and materialize or make their presences known. It seems reasonable that high tide would affect the paranormal as well. We did an investigation at Jacksonville Beach at a private residence during high tide and it was much more active when we had done one at the same location during low tide. Whenever doing an investigation, one should keep track of the lunar phases, weather, tides, etc. This way we can learn what does or does not make the activity increase during investigations. At the time, my mom was a ghost tour guide in the area and one of her stops is actually where the experience happened. Before the experience went down, keep in mind that on many other accounts, people have seen an apparition of a young Victorian styled woman sobbing in the corner of the field we were investigating. I had heard stories of it but was just getting into the paranormal at an age where things were making more since to me yet I was skeptical. Because I hadn't seen the woman, I didn't believe it. As the night dragged on, the investigation got dull with nobody experiencing anything or getting any readings. Right as our group was ready to head out, my K2 meter spiked and started going off the charts. Nobody else knew about this as I was off in a corner by myself and wanted to keep it this way to enhance my personal experience. Whatever was making my K2 meter go off was now talkative and ready to have a conversation with me. Before getting too excited, I examined my surroundings looking for anything that might give off a false reading but there was nothing to be found. After about 10 minutes of conversation with the spirit communicating to me through the K2 meter, I had found out that he was a 10 year old, blonde headed, little boy, who had been separated from his mother at some point in time. This really touched me on a personal level because this little boy was only 3 years younger than I was at the time and I thought about how scared I would be to have lost my mother. I was in tears and my mom saw me so she came over thinking someone in the group we were investigating with had hurt my feelings and sent me to the corner crying. Through gasps of air and tears, I explained to her what had happened and I watched as her eyes grew huge. I asked her what was making her act like this. My mother than explained to me that she neglected to mention to me that a week before she took me out investigating, she had gone on the same investigation with a psychic. They had found the sobbing Victorian lady in her corner and had gone to make contact with it. The psychic began to speak to the corner and while everyone else on the tour thought she was playing around for theatrical effects, she began asking questions and writing down the answers. She gave the answers to my mom and the psychic had figured out that the young lady was sobbing because she had lost her 10 year old, blonde headed, son. Just this experience is so amazing to me that I, from that point on, had no trouble in believing in the paranormal and all the spirit realm has to offer. Doug is a hard core skeptic and believes there is a logical explanation to everything. That is why we call him the “Spock” of the Historic Haunts Investigations team. We just hope we are all there the day he finally has his first encounter it to see it. Paula is an honorary member of the Historic Haunts Investigations team. She has been the main editor in the Historic Haunts books series by Jamie Pearce. She has also helped with some of the research on the cases. She is very intrigues by the paranormal but quite frankly doesn’t want to experience it firsthand. Jeff’s first time experiencing the paranormal when he and three other Historic Haunts Investigations team members were in Gettysburg for an investigation. While visiting Little Round Top he had some activity with the K2 EMF meter when there was no man made reason for the readings since there is no power there. This encounter made him even more curious and intrigued by what is out there and wants to know more. Historic Haunts Investigations team member, Dean Wilson, doesn’t necessarily believe or disbelieve in spirits. He just hasn’t seen or experienced something to say, yes I believe! During one investigation of a private residence he did see a few strange things that could not be explained which does make him learn more towards believing in the spirit world. The team looks forward to that defining moment when something happens that brings dean 100% to the believer’s side. |
