Equipment For A Paranormal Investigation

12/3/2013

Many people ask me what type of equipment my team Historic Haunts Investigations uses. Well, we use a lot of different pieces because some spirits seem to be drawn to one meter over another.

First off, we have digital recorders in hopes of capturing EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) or other strange noises that go bump in the night. We have regular still cameras, full spectrum and infrared cameras in hopes of capturing full body apparitions, shadow figures, energy ribbons, or even spirit vales.

We use several different EMF (electromagnetic field) meters. This gives us an accurate reading of what the normal EMF is of a location because spirits are known to manipulate the EM field. We have; K2 EMF Meter, 822A Digital EMF, Mel Meter Hybrid, Gauss Master, and several others. We even have a REM Pod which puts off its own EM field and when something comes near or touches the REM Pod it will break its natural EM field and alert us that something is present.

We also have motion detectors so if something is present we may not see it alerts us to the activity. They are also used for when we are in a different area, we can set these up and they will let us know to relocate to the active location.

Another item we use is several different temperature meters. We have the Mel Hybrid which I mentioned above because it reads EMF and temperature. We also have a temperature gun which we point and shoot to get a reading. Spirits are known to draw energy from the air to materialize and this causes the temperature to drop.

I have also always said during an investigation, pay attention to ALL your senses. They are a piece of equipment as well. Sight, sounds, smell, taste, touch, and that gut feeling all come into play during investigations.

There is also a very cheap piece of equipment we use that we have had a lot of success with. The Mag Flashlight! We ask yes or no questions and tell the spirits to touch one light or the other in response to the questions. You turn the flash light to where it is almost on and this makes it very easy for the spirits to work with. They are around $10 and are a great starter item for anyone wanting to get into the paranormal. Besides, we can all use them for safety.

This next one is a toy, but it is actually a great little item. A child’s night vision spy camera. Sounds silly, I know, but we have captured some interesting footage with this piece of equipment.

These are just a few pieces of the equipment we use. We also use trigger objects; toys if there are children ghosts, pet toys if it is a spirit of a pet, and many other trigger objects depending on the setting.

Happy Hauntings Everyone!
