Staying Fit & Healthy Between Investigations and Book Tours & Lectures

7/15/2019

Many people ask me how I stay in shape while traveling doing investigations and book tours. Well, for me, it’s easy. I am a very active person and can’t stand sitting around. I am 5’ 7” and 120 lbs, and 40 years old. I’m the type that fitness is very important to me.
Most hotels have a gym but bed and breakfasts don’t. However, hauling cases of books and ghost hunting equipment is exercise in itself.
Also, I am a vegetarian and try very hard to eat healthy and I rarely eat fast food or sweets. I do have a weakness for Coca Cola, that is my vice.
It helps having a toddler and working from home, chasing her around off and on all day is a work out in itself.

Never Command the Spirits

7/9/2019

I have seen so many so called “paranormal investigators” command or demand a spirit to show themselves. I just want to say, this is very unprofessional and not the appropriate was to conduct an investigation. I have been professional involved in the paranormal for over 25 years and have never commanded or been with a team demanding the spirits to make themselves known.

There are a few paranormal television shows that have done or so this and it just gets under my skin. This is NOT the way to conduct yourself or your group. We at Historic Haunts Investigations do not condone this. We would never command the living and will not do so with the dead.

Please always be respectful to others, even if they are deceased.

Why I Became a Vegetarian

I’m sure you are all wondering why I became a vegetarian and why I am doing a blog on my Historic Haunts website.
Well the reason I decided to change my life and the way I eat is because I feel all living creatures have feelings and souls, plus I could never actually kill something even if I were starving. I have ever worn leather or fur and I thought to myself why am I eating another living creature.
I don’t judge anyone who isn’t a vegetarian, this was just my personal choice and decision. Plus, I feel like I am making a difference.

Historic Haunts of the South III

Many people take my Historic Haunts book series on vacation with them. I jokingly call it a paranormal travel guide. As you can see, even Thomas Jefferson has looked over the series. I hope he approves, especially since he is featured in a couple volumes.

Historic Haunts Investigation's Mascots

Since I started Historic Haunts Investigations (2004) we have had a mascot. Cosmo was my sweet girl from the very beginning and she picked up on several strange phenomenon in a house I used to live in. She passed away in 2008. Griffin was with us from 2011-2017 and she experienced the ghost of Cosmo. We now have Cali and believe she has experienced Cosmo and Griffin’s spirit.
It may sound odd, but there were certain things that happened when Cosmo visited and there were certain things Griffin does and I can tell the difference in who is here.
Our loving pets can return as spirits or ghosts just like humans. It’s nice to know they are both still here visiting from time to time.

Go Wahoos! As a UVA girl, I am happy to say my college is indeed haunted.
My ancestor, Thomas Jefferson founded the college in 1819 and my inspiration to become an author, Edgar Allan Poe, attendee here in 1826.
The University of Virginia will be featured in Historic Haunts of the South IV and I will go into more details about the hauntings here and some of my personal experiences.
